Some people have their whole life mapped out, they know what they are going to do before it even happens. Then... you become a Mom. And it all changes.
Working Mom
As a working Mom you are able to leave the house, talk with other adults, leave work and go home... leaving work at work.
But it’s not that simple. As a Mom who works outside of the home, you miss out on time with your kids when they are little. You have to schedule things according to your work schedule. You have to find time for yourself and your kids. Find the time to cook and clean.
You bring home a steady paycheck and are able to help support your family. But all the while missing your children when you are away from them, wondering if you’re possibly missing out on an important milestone.
Stay At Home Mom
As a stay at home Mom, you get to enjoy those precious moments with your babies and children. Enjoy all their milestones. Go to all of their appointments. Schedule play dates (if that’s your thing).
But as a stay at home Mom, you are also doing the cooking, cleaning, laundry and wondering when you’re going to get a moment just to go pee by yourself. You often find yourself feeling alone. Sure. You’re not alone, your kids are there. But the adult interaction just isn’t there. So you hop on Facebook and go in your favorite groups, or go on Messenger hoping at least one friend is online to talk to so you don’t feel alone.
Work At Home Mom
You hit the jackpot! Not only do you get to make some income to care for your family, but you also don’t have to miss out on being with your kids, or possibly have to leave them with a babysitter.
But yet here you find yourself working what seems day and night. You here your kids playing and you want to join in, but you have work to do.
Your business is booming, you’re ahead! But wait, you have business expenses to pay, supplies to buy. You look at your wallet and find you have just enough to buy a gallon of milk. Well at least you came out ahead right?
I have been all three Moms. Honestly no Mom is better than the other. ALL Moms work hard. All Moms struggle finding a balance. There’s no such thing as being the right type of Mom. It’s about what works best for you AND your family. Sure, working Moms get to talk to other adults, but think about it, do they like the adults they work with? You don’t know their situation. Sure, stay at home Moms get to be at home all the time and play with their kids, but due to the lack of personal time, is that Mom okay emotionally? Then there’s work at home Moms. While yes they may bring in income while being home with their kids, how much time do they get with their kids, are they actually bringing in enough to support their family?
What matters most is being the best Mom you can be. Which includes taking a moment for yourself, taking some time to socialize, and taking the time to enjoy those special moments with your kids.
